For one of my portfolio pieces, I decided to create a character and create a turnaround sheet for him.

I started off the project, knowing that I wanted a happy and dorky character, somewhat like Rock Lee from Naruto and Beedle and Sidon from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, so I created a moodboard that included pictures of characters whose looks and personality reflected what I wanted the character to be like.

While I was creating the moodboard, I decided to do a sketch of watch I wanted the character to actually look like and while I was doing so I was constantly changing the character slightly to make him how I wanted him to look.

Eventually I drew a final sketch of the character from the tiny sketch on the moodboard and put more detail into him.

Lastly, I made the turnaround sheet of the character, a front angle, profile and rear angle.

I later decided that instead of a sun on the choker, he should just have a circle, because if I'm going to draw this character multiple times, his design needs to be quick and easy to draw and having to try and get a sun perfect each time is too time consuming if he was to be used in a comic.
